This emergency patient had just arrived in Miami Beach from Australia. She was concerned about her broken and unaesthetic front teeth. Clinical and radiographic exam showed asymptomatic (didn’t hurt) central incisors. The radiograph showed a slight radiolucency in the apical area of the right central incisor. This usually indicates that there has been nerve damage requiring root canal therapy. However, since she was here on vacation and not really interested in extended dental therapy, and since this tooth was not bothering her other than the aesthetics, endodontic therapy could be performed when she returns home.
The teeth were restored with a flowable composite material (www.discusdental.com/matrixx.php) bonded to the tooth surface via acid etching. She was very happy with the result.
